Augusta National has brought Cameron Smith to his knees.

Smith was forced to play his second shot on No. 8 behind a tree, on his knees. Objectively, it was sick. Realistically, he hit it 23 yards and gave himself 249 yards to the pin on the par 5. Smith was able to par the hole.

Smith was a favorite to make a moving day push up the leaderboard, but instead shot an even-par 72 for the second straight day. Given the change in conditions from Friday to Saturday has to be considered a worse round of golf, even if the score was the same. He got up to 3-under today after an eagle on No. 2, but dropped a shot with a bogey on the par-4 5th.

Tom Kim with the round of the day

We've got some low scores on the board here in Augusta, which means two things. First, the course has indeed softened up and the door for birdie opportunities is wide open. Second, we're pretty much guaranteed to have an electric final round considering the leaderboard is stacked with world-class iron players who will be sticking it tight all day.

Tom Kim posted a 6-under 66 with eight birdies, and he made a really interesting point about today's conditions allowing for shorter clubs into the par-4's and therefore better scoring opportunities.

"I hit 3-wood on 11 on Friday and I hit 6-iron today, and I hit a better drive on Friday, too," Kim said.

Neal Shipley reflects on Masters final round with Tiger Woods: ‘I’d have to win one of these to top this’

AUGUSTA, Ga. — Neal Shipley, who has finished this Masters as low amateur, just sat with reporters in the Augusta National interview room, an appetizer before heading to Butler Cabin later Sunday to be presented with the Silver Cup as the tournament’s low amateur finisher.

Shipley seemingly spent this week in a dreamscape. He stayed in the crow’s nest on Monday night, watching Connecticut beat Purdue in the men’s national championship game. Then shot 71-76 on Thursday and Friday to stand as the only amateur to make the cut this week. Then, the perfect ending — being paired with Tiger Woods for Sunday’s final round.

“I think I’d have to win one of these to top this,” Shipley said.

Tiger Woods on negotiations between PGA Tour, PIF: ‘Headed in the right direction’

Tiger Woods said that a meeting with PIF Governor Yasir Al-Rumayyan last month has helped with negotiations between the PGA Tour and PIF.

Woods, who has taken a key place in negotiations as a member of the PGA Tour Policy Board, and Al-Rumayyan were the headliners of a meeting the day after The Players Championship in the Bahamas, which included key representatives from the tour, PIF (which funds and operates LIV) and Strategic Sports Group (which has committed more than a billion dollars in funding to PGA Tour Enterprises). The groups continue to hunt for a solution that would seek to end the division between the two tours since 2022.

“I don’t know if we’re closer but we’re certainly headed in the right direction,” Woods said Sunday after his final round at the Masters. “That was a very positive meeting and both sides came away from the meeting positive.”

Tiger Woods shot a final-round, 5-over 77 on Sunday at the Masters.

A tough weekend for Tiger who finished the tournament at 16-over-par.

But put this in perspective: Tiger came into this tournament having played just 24 holes of tournament golf.

He extended his made-cuts streak at the Masters to 24, a new record.

This is just the second time Woods has completed four rounds at a major since the 2020 Masters.

Woods walked off Augusta amid a chorus of raucous roars.
